This week we are kicking off our newest social media campaign, #StudentExperience. It will highlight the hardworking Towson University students who work as student employees within our Division.
Dasith is a second-year graduate student studying computer science at Towson University. He has been working as a computer programmer with the Division of Innovation and Applied Research (DIAR) for one year. Each week Dasith helps our staff with implementing email marketing campaigns, website development, and special projects. During his time with us, Dasith developed a search system that filtered out mentors (TU Incubator Mentor Network) from a database based on professional expertise.
Dasith’s advice for other computer programmers looking to gain experience? At your first programming job everything might seem intimidating at first, but once you start doing it, it is amazing how much new stuff you will learn. And during his time with OPO he had the ability to learn other programming languages, by just learning the syntax of it for a couple hours.
After graduation, Dasith would like to start up a tech company.
Fun Stuff About Dasith:
- What are two apps you can’t live without? MCTube & Words with Friends
- If your life was a movie, what would the theme song be? Imagine by John Lennon
- What would your superhero power be? Ability to think a couple steps ahead
- What is a special hobby you have? I’m a big Arduino hobbyist. (Google it. It’s cool stuff!)
Unfortunately for us, last week was Dasith’s last week working with us. He received a graduate assistantship and will be working with Computer and Information Sciences at Towson University. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck!
