We are back with another #StudentExperience blog post, where we highlight the hardworking students who work within the Division of Innovation and Applied Research at Towson University.
Cassidy is a senior studying graphic design at Towson University. She has been working as a student graphic design assistant with the Division of Innovation and Applied Research (DIAR) for five semesters. In this role, she creates custom print and web graphics and updates web and email marketing content.
Cassidy says that many of the more open ended projects are the most rewarding for her. “When I am given the content and a vague idea for a design is when I can come up with some of my more creative work,” she said. While working with the Division, she has gotten a lot better on working at multiple things at once. “Often with schoolwork I would work on one thing until it was done and other projects would get pushed back because of it. This experience has shown me to take breaks from projects to work on others,” she said.
Cassidy’s advice for other students looking to gain experience? Look for opportunities in unexpected places.
After graduation, Cassidy would like to stay in Baltimore and work as a graphic designer. (Lucky for us, she will transition from a student employee to a professional team member with us this summer!) She would also love to adopt a dog.
Fun Stuff About Cassidy:
- What are two apps she can’t live without? I mostly use Instagram to post projects and find myself on tumblr’s mobile app a lot.
- If your life was a movie, what would the theme song be? It would probably be Adele’s Hello sung horribly off key.
- What would your superhero power be? Telekinesis, for those lazy days.
- What is a special hobby you have? It might be expected because I’m already an art major, but I enjoy a lot of hands-on hobbies like drawing, painting, and sewing.
