Organizations often ask about how they can better connect with Towson University students looking for internships or other experiential learning opportunities. To better address those needs, BTU—Partnerships for Greater Baltimore recently partnered with the Career Center for an event to connect TU students to local nonprofits for internships and volunteer opportunities.
The event kicked off with an educational session where students learned about the unique dynamics of nonprofit internships and gained practical guidance on finding and securing these opportunities. A dedicated networking portion allowed around 50 students to connect one-on-one with leaders from the eight participating local nonprofits organizations looking for talent.

The event was organized to address needs voiced by local organizations and the TU community, and grew out of the 2025 Baltimore Nonprofit Summit, which will be held again in spring 2027. It offered organizations an opportunity to connect with students looking for positions and provided students with a chance to grow their networking skills and find experiential opportunities that interest them.
Participating organizations included:
- Baltimore County Arts Guild: Builds an inclusive community by connecting diverse groups of artists and residents of Baltimore County and beyond. Showcasing the necessity of art in everyday life and the changes it can make in the fabric of our communities.
- Camp Opportunity: An overnight summer camp for children ages 8-11 who have experienced abuse or neglect. Teaching campers resilience, self-love, and essential life skills to break the cycle of abuse. Making camp a place where children can connect with nature to heal, grow, and create brighter futures.
- Community Law Center: Strives to be the legal partner to neighborhoods and nonprofits in pursuit of more just and vibrant communities. Using legal expertise to make communities stronger through collective change.
- Mentoring Mentors: Works to develop the next generation of community leaders through exposure that leads to college and career readiness. Supporting the most underrepresented youth with positive peer mentors and seeking to close the gaps that racial, academic, wealth, and entrepreneurial inequalities have created in our communities.
- NeighborSpace of Baltimore County: Works to enhance the livability of urban communities in Baltimore County by protecting, restoring and stewarding green space for small parks, gardens, trails and natural areas.
- So What Else: Strives to improve the lives of children and families living in undeserved communities by providing food security, access to basic necessities, and high-quality out-of-school time programs in literacy, athletics, and the visual and performing arts while inspiring young people to give back to the community by creating volunteer opportunities for individuals of all ages.
- TasteWise Kids: Inspires kids to explore and experience the world of food and it’s sources by offering fun ways to learn about food, inspiring positive healthy eating habits, and empowering children of all ages to think about food in new ways.
- The I AM Me Project: Empowers, educates, and inspires young women as they embark upon the journey of discovering “Who am I to Who I Am”. Providing a safe space for young women to engage with one another, develop a positive sense of self-awareness and cultivate lasting relationships.
